Price lists for amber products as a tool for expert evaluation: gemological and legal principles

The purpose of this research paper is to develop an algorithm for compiling price lists for amber products based on real market data for necklaces and beads. For achieving the goal (with the help of general scientific and special methods of scientific cognition), consumer properties of products (color, weight, size, presence of inclusions and cracks, transparency, processing quality, price) were analyzed and a database was created that will contribute to solving theoretical and applied issues. In order to meet the needs of the modern market, price lists for amber products have been developed based on economically determined and understandable calculations and which are one of the sources of objective and reliable results in expert and evaluation activities, and are also relevant in economic geology (for clarifying feasibility of industrial development of mineral deposits). Objectivity and reliability of the obtained results is guaranteed by the software created according to real quality indicators of raw materials (color, weight, size, transparency) and the technological production procedure of commercial products. The cost indicator of raw materials of 30% of the product cost is proposed to be considered as the limit below which the production of amber balls is unprofitable.
