AIMS AND SCOPE OF THE PROFESSIONAL PUBLICATION — THE COLLECTION OF SCIENTIFIC PAPERS “THEORY AND PRACTICE OF FORENSIC SCIENCE AND CRIMINALISTICS”

Aim: to create an authoritative scientific platform for publishing, systematizing, and disseminating the results of fundamental and applied research in the field of criminalistics, forensic science, and related legal disciplines. The publication ensures the approbation and implementation of scientific knowledge, establishes the priority of authorship, promotes the development of scientific discussions, and transfers research results into the common knowledge base of the scientific community. The publication is aimed at the systematic coverage of innovative approaches to solving current problems of justice, providing scientific support for forensic activities, and facilitating the integration of Ukrainian forensic science into the international scientific community.

Main objectives of the scientific publication:

  • publication of scientific results — publishing the main scientific results of dissertations by applicants for academic degrees and research by candidates for academic titles for the official recognition of publications, as well as the results of scientific research to be considered when evaluating the scientific performance of forensic and research institutions and higher education institutions, including their certification and evaluation, and research projects submitted to competitions for funding from state or local budgets;

  • establishing priority — determining authorship of discoveries or research results as of a specific date;

  • peer review (Peer Review) — ensuring the quality and reliability of materials through external evaluation by experts;

  • research approbation — confirming the researcher’s personal contribution and validating the obtained conclusions;

  • expert support — providing detailed analysis and promoting modern types of forensic examinations (trace evidence analysis, ballistics, economic examinations, computer and technical examinations, molecular genetic examinations, etc.);

  • knowledge dissemination — informing the scientific community about new scientific achievements and current issues;

  • exchange of experience — creating a platform for discussion and interaction among theoretical scholars, forensic practitioners, judges, lawyers, and law enforcement officials;

  • practice-oriented focus — providing scientific recommendations on the application of specialized knowledge in criminal, civil, commercial, and administrative proceedings; studying problematic aspects of interaction between forensic experts and pre-trial investigation bodies and courts; discussing and scientifically reviewing draft legislation in the field of forensic science and criminal justice;

  • communication and international cooperation — promoting international exchange of experience through the publication of works by foreign scholars and practitioners for comparative analysis of national and foreign forensic systems; disseminating information about significant events in scientific life (international conferences, symposia, seminars, as well as the results of scientific competitions, etc.).

The publication adheres to an open access policy and high ethical standards of peer review, ensuring objectivity, reliability, and academic integrity of all published materials.

Language of publication: Ukrainian and English (parallel issues).
