Abstract

Consideration is given to problematic issues of granting legal protection to the personages. The paper gives the "personage” concept definition and the classification of personages. Specific conditions for granting legal protection to the personages are determined. Analysis is made for the international practice of detailing the personage's characteristics, according to which it is determined whether the controversial personage is endowed with traits that allow him to be included in the protected objects of copyright. Account is given of some main provisions for defining the criteria according to which the free reproduction of a personage for commercial purposes is not allowed.
